ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing announced today that Trent Hindman will join the team in 2012 and compete in the USF2000 National Championship Powered by Mazda.

Although Hindman is only 16, he is already a champion by claiming the 2011 Ontario Formula Ford Championship earlier this year. He was also selected as a winner of the prestigious Team USA Scholarship. His success makes him the perfect addition to the championship-winning team.

“I am extremely excited to be running with Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing next year,” Hindman said. “I think it will be a great year and an excellent learning experience for me. After watching the team throughout last season, their results speak for themselves. Cape Motorsports is a very professional, experienced and knowledgeable organization. I know that Dominic and Nicholas (Cape) will be teaching me a lot along with making sure the car has speed! I can't wait to get back in the USF2000 car and start testing. I am looking forward to getting the season started. I think next year will be a great year for all of us.“

Hindman began karting at age 8, and he spent time in the World Karting Association (WKA) and Stars of Karting. He then moved to Skip Barber, and in 2010, won the Skip Barber Racing School Karting Scholarship Shoot-out, which earned him a fully-funded ride in the 2011 BFGoodrich/Skip Barber National Presented by Mazda series.

“We are looking forward to a great season with Trent,” said Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing team owner Dominic Cape. “He may be young, but he has the passion and natural skill to win championships.”

"We are very happy Trent has signed with us for 2012,” said Wayne Taylor.  “Based on his race results to date, we feel he has the talent to go all the way.”

Cape Motorsports with Wayne Taylor Racing recently wrapped up the USF2000 season with driver Petri Suvanto claiming the driver championship and being named Rookie of the Year. Suvanto is a tough act to follow, but the team and Hindman are up for the challenge.
