Legacy Autosport today announced that Viktor Andersson will pilot the team’s #20 USF2000 entry in this weekend’s Chris Griffis Memorial Open Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“I’m very excited to be back in a USF2000 car and at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway," said Andersson. "I did this test two years ago. It’s a really fun car to drive and now with more experience after a full season in F4, I’m ready for the next step.

“I started racing from 2011-2015 with national karting (twice on the podium in the Swedish championship). 2016 and 2017 was international karting including European and World Championships. In 2018, I started with racing in the Scandinavian single-seater series, Formula Nordic. In 2019 I won the Swedish championship in Formula Nordic and tested the USF2000 car at the Chris Griffis test for HMD Motorsports. In 2020, unfortunately due to COVID travel restrictions, I only raced one weekend in Formula 4 but luckily, I ended up on the podium in the last race . In 2021, I had a full season in F4 USA with Kiwi Motorsport and I’m also a member of the Swedish National Team for racing.

”The dream is of course to do the full USF2000 season in 2022. The Road to Indy and USF2000 is the next step towards my top dream, which is to race in the NTT INDYCAR SERIES. That is what I’m working towards, but it depends on if we can find enough sponsorships.

“Legacy Autosport has shown some good speed during the season with some podium finishes. So, we started discussing with the team and together we decided to do this test. This is the only test we have confirmed."

“I am looking forward to getting on track with Viktor," aid Louis Michael Meyer, Owner of Legacy Autosport. "He is such a dedicated and driven competitor, and I am sure will get up to speed quickly.

“I was Introduced to Viktor and his father through Tim Neff from TJ Speed. Tim and I worked together for many years in Indy Lights starting at Sam Schmidt Motorsports. We worked under the guidance of Team Manager and close Friend Chris Griffis. This test is named and run in his memory at the end of each year. Tim has worked with Viktor before and spoke very highly of him as a young man and of his talent behind the wheel.

“We hope to test Viktor more this winter after we finish assembly of our new spec 2022 USF2000 chassis. I know Viktor and his father are working hard to put the final details together to compete in the Road to Indy next year.”
