Talented duo of Enerson and Forgeois behind the wheels in Rounds One and Two FORT MYERS, FLA. – ZSports/Team E Racing begins its quest for glory in the 2013 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda this coming week (March 14-15), when it contests the season-opening doubleheader at Sebring International Raceway with a potent two-car line-up. In RC Enerson and Luca Forgeois, the Florida-based squad has two former multiple National class race winners that are more than capable of challenging for places on the post-race podium.
The start of the racing season is always an exciting affair, but for ZSports/Team E Racing it is something that could not arrive soon enough. After a busy off-season that featured the squad making the transition to the lead Championship class, re-signing up-and-comer Enerson, and adding Forgeois, the entire squad is looking forward to battling for USF2000 Championship supremacy.
If the pre-season is any indication, ZSports/Team E Racing is already headed in the right direction in 2013. After scoring four wins in the National class last season with Enerson behind the wheel, the Florida-based team showed it is more than prepared to advance up to the Championship class - which features a Van Diemen chassis powered by the Mazda MZR powerplant - by posting the fifth best time in the second annual Chris Griffis Memorial Mazda Road to Indy Test at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. The speed and skill of both Enerson and ZSports/Team E Racing was further highlighted via a fifth-place finish in race one of the recent USF2000 Championship-backed Cooper Tires Winterfest series at Sebring.
"I am really looking forward to the 2013 USF2000 season with ZSports/Team E Racing," commented Enerson. "The guys are committed to a great year, and I have an awesome teammate in Luca Forgeois. We started things off well at Sebring in the Winterfest series, so I am very excited for the full season to kick-off for good back at Sebring."
That being said, the squad will not be a 'one-trick pony' when the 2013 season starts during the prestigious Twelve Hours of Sebring event, as the 15-year-old Patriot Bank/ZSports/Team E Racing pilot has a skilled new teammate in Forgeois. Not only does the 17-year-old from New York, N.Y., bring previous Championship class experience via a partial campaign last season, but the Cafe Noir/Nova Aviation/Splashlight Studios/GEAR UP/ZSports/Team E Racing driver was also the dominant 2011 National class champion with six wins in 12 races.
"It has been a very productive off-season for the team and myself," stated Forgeois. "Seeing how the team has been working non-stop getting the cars ready, and watching how much effort is being made to give myself and RC the best possible machinery, has me really looking forward to Sebring. I have never been in a better mind set than I'm currently in heading into a season-opener."
Given the results thus far, combined with the pedigree both in out of the cockpit under the ZSports/Team E Racing awning, the stage is set for a strong season-opening doubleheader in Florida.
ZSports/Team E Racing and its talented tandem of Enerson and Forgeois start the 2013 Cooper Tires USF2000 Championship Powered by Mazda campaign on March 12, with two promoter's test sessions as part of the prestigious Mobil 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring. Day one (March 13) of official action features two practice runs at the historic Sebring International Raceway. The lone qualifying session, which sets the grid for race one of the season-opening doubleheader, takes place on Thursday morning (March 14), prior to Round One at 1:35 pm local time. The action in central Florida concludes on Friday (March 15), with Round Two at 10:40 am. Live timing and scoring will be available at www.usf2000.com/Multimedia/Live.aspx.
